Is it good to work in college?

Yes, but only to a point. Some of the college retention and graduation studies suggest that students who work in college graduate in higher percentages than those who do not work. But be careful, don’t overdo it!  With thanks to Mark Kantrowitz and a Beginning Postsecondary Students longitudinal study (BPS:04/09), the 6-year degree attainment rates for students who work 12 hours a week or less vs. those working 40 or more hours a week are:

Bachelor's degree: 60.6% vs. 32.1%

Associate's degree: 22.0% vs. 13.7%
