Urgent News for FAFSA Filers!

The U.S. Department of Education has changed the security protocol when it comes to filing a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) after January 1, 2016.  They say it will provide much great security, but we know it will take quite a bit of time initially to set up your new username and password!! You can and should set up your new Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID now to avoid a long delay in filling out the FAFSA after the first of the year.

Please note:

  • The student and parent each must have their own e-mail address. (A new, web-based e-mail account can be obtained for free from Gmail.com, Outlook.com or another free e-mail website.)
  • Go to, www.fafsa.gov, click on the “FSA ID” tab.  This webpage will provide additional information about the FSA ID.  Once you are ready click on the, “Create a FSA ID Now” box.
  • Do not give your FSA ID to anyone; this could put you at risk for identity theft.
  • We strongly suggest you set up your new FSA ID ASAP or no later than January 15, 2016 so you can file your FAFSA in a timely way!
  • You will need this information each time you log on to the FAFSA.
  • We have provided the chart below to record your login information.
